Specialist contractor Elliott Thomas has won the contract to provide a full logistics package for the £338million redevelopment of St Helens and Whiston Hospitals, where outdated facilities will be replaced with two new state of the art hospitals.
This latest win follows Elliott Thomas’ successful involvement in a number of healthcare projects to date, including a recent refurbishment and new build contract for Capio Healthcare.
The St Helens and Whiston scheme has been awarded one of the largest PFI projects in the last 10 years to deliver modernised health services to the local community.
The logistics contract, awarded by Taylor Woodrow and worth £5million, will see Elliott Thomas provide a complete package for the client that encompasses traffic and material management to waste and welfare management.
Deliveries to the site are being managed and coordinated using the company’s own in-house software programme called Deliver E-Manager.
Elliott Thomas is also providing fire marshals and manned security operatives, 24 hours a day 365 days a year throughout the entire site in addition to access control systems, that have been designed and implemented specifically to client requirements as part of the holistic logistics and security solution.
Whiston Hospital, the regional specialist centre for burns and plastic surgery, provides the local population with accident and emergency, general medical, surgical, children's and maternity services. St Helens Hospital houses general medical and surgical services along with dedicated units for day surgery, opthalmology and a minor injuries unit.
John Self, Managing Director at Elliott Thomas, said, “Winning this latest contract displays how, as a specialist contractor, Elliott Thomas has become a leader in the supply of logistics services to the healthcare industry. We’re delighted that our strengths in this field continue to be recognised.”
