Specialist contractor Elliott Thomas has been awarded a £1.4 million pound logistics contract from main contractor Mace Ltd to carry out waste management work at the new BAA Terminal 5A.
Considered one of the largest construction projects in Europe and a new landmark for London, the Richard Rogers Partnership designed building will be one of the world’s most exciting airport terminals, visually stunning, easy to use and a fitting gateway to the UK.
The company will be providing six Site Enabling Teams (SETs) comprising a supervisor and six operatives to co-ordinate and manage the safe cleaning and removal of all trade waste from allocated areas.
The SETs primary duties will be to clear waste of no ownership including the removal of small debris, off-cuts, dust and blue cross and red tag items.
They will also be tasked with preventing the build up of combustible waste, ensuring all access and egress areas are kept waste free and that any build up of waste does not cause a trip/fall hazard.
